The Baglio

a multi-level operative complex situated around a court yard.

 

The Park

the grounds in front of the baglio, area undergoing excavation and creation of a museal landscape

 

The grounds of the park cover approximately four hectares. Located inside is the baglio of nearly 1000 square meters, characterized by an articulately constructed complex of dwellings and abodes which encircle a courtyard in the center of which is an antique well with its large water tank or gebbia .

The Interventions

The project consists of the preservation restoration orientated and aimed towards the functional recovery of the structure and of the area, by way of:

Architectural Interventions

for recovery of the rural dwelling, the antique baglio, with final aim being the creation of a museum, archaeological and restoration laboratories, educational areas and administrational offices.

Landscape Interventions

for recovery and utilization of the adjacent agricultural area for the purpose of archaeological and museographical research.

The entire architectural project of recovery was designed to support of the principal activity of the Campus: of service and enhancement of the archaeological excavations in the adjacent area, but conceived of with an eye on its most flexible utilization and with great attention to a harmonious fluency between the internal areas and the outer landscape.
