The series of hillsides is crossed by three rivers: Belize, Delia and Modione; also significant are the groundwater resources. The area's climate is typically Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers, often with years of semi-arid or hot-arid.

It is prevalently an agricultural environment of vineyards and olive groves, while arable land and the cultivation of citrus and almond crops have almost completely disappeared. The olive tree is a constant presence in the agricultural landscape of the area. Extended along the coastline is the Natural Reserve of the Belice River, rich in endemic flora and fauna, characterized by sandy dune formations.
